What is Mock Trial?

A Mock Trial is a simulated court case. Students act as lawyers and witnesses to compete in front of a judge. Team members have a period of time to prepare their case by coming up with themes, writing,  and memorizing to eventually perform in a trial. Mock Trial is a lot of work, but it is also extremely fun and rewarding.  During a Mock Trial, you:

  • Deliver opening and closing statements

  • Direct-examine witnesses

  • Cross-examine witnesses

  • Make objections through trial rules

  • Build skills in public speaking and critical thinking

While there are many high school competitions for Mock Trial, this website is designed to bring Mock Trial to all ages and provide guidance.
